Is the prophet Mohammed صلى الله عليه وسلم to be prayed for ???
٥٦ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
56 Allah and His angels give blessings to the Prophet. O you who believe, call for blessings on him, and greet him with a prayer of peace.
QS. Al Ahzab (33):56
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلّى الله عليه و سلّم : لا تجعلوا بيوتكم ولا تجعلوا قبري عيدا و صلوا عليّ فإنّ صلاتكم تبلغنيحيث كنتم
From Abu Hurairah that the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى said: "Do not make your homes cemetery, and do not make me your grave as a place of celebration, salute me because your utterance will come to me wherever you are." (Narrated by Abu Daud No. with sanad hasan)
If we were to pray with the phrase "shallallahu wa sallam 'ala nabiyyina Muhammad", may Allah bless and greet from our Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, what does that mean?
Imam Nawawi Al-Bantani rahimahullah (born 1815, died in 1898) said that meant "salawat from Allah" is hopefully God will increase his glory. While the "greeting" in question is hopefully Allah give high honor and noble degree. (See Kasyifah As-Saja Syarh Safinah An-Najaa, page 29)
The best sense of shalawat is as Abul 'Aliyah rahimahullah said,
The best sense of shalawat is as Abul 'Aliyah rahimahullah said,
صَلاَةُ اللَّهِ ثَنَاؤُهُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ ، وَصَلاَةُ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ الدُّعَاءُ
"Shalawat from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى means the praise of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم by the angels. Shalawat from the angels means prayer. "
So the sentence "Allahumma shalli 'alaih", Ya Allah, may Allah bless him, mean: praise himصلى الله عليه وسلم on the side of the Most Noble beings, the angels. (See Syarh Al-Mumthi ', 3: 163-164)
While the sentence of salat means God who saves, safeguards and helps the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. (Syarh Al-Mumthi ', 3: 149)
The word sholawat is a plural form of salla or sholat with the meaning of prayer, glory, well-being, blessing, and worship.
Concerning the meaning of Sholawat is different, depending on who is the subject. If the sholawat comes from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى, then sholawat means the form of the grace of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى to the beings.
If the angel is the angel, then the sholawat gives forgiveness. While sholawat of believing believers means sholawat is a form of prayer that Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى provides the welfare and mercy to the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and his family.
Sholawat is also interpreted as prayer, prayer for yourself, for many people and prayers for mutual benefit. Sholawat as worship is the form of servitude of a being to Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى, which is expected nothing else is his reward.
As promised by Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم where the people who will follow him will be given a great reward, either when the sholawat is pronounced or written.
In addition, Ibn Katsir explains in his commentary if Imam Bukhari narrates, Abu 'Aliyah said:
sholawat is:
- When the sholawat from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, then sholawat means to give glory and grace.
- When the sholawat comes from the Angel for the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, then sholawat asks for forgiveness.
- When the sholawat comes from the Mukmin/Believer (jin and human), then sholawat to pray to God سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى to gain glory and grace.
Is the prophet Mohammed صلى الله عليه وسلم to be prayed for ???
The Religion of Islam teaches that:
When Muslims meet each other, they are encouraged to pray for each other, Assalamu'alaikum. The translation of this sentence is more and more, hopefully safety is passed on to you. This is not just what we say for the living, including those who have died. Particularly pious people, including prophets and apostles.
For Muslims, pray for good is a proof of love. When we meet our loved ones, we pray that God will give him goodness. Because the source of goodness is only God. And we beg God to grant that kindness to our loved ones.
Logic of thinking when praying for someone
The prayer of salvation is just as meaningful when we greet a friend by saying: "May your family always be healthy".
Does it mean that our friend and his family are being treated in the hospital?
Conversely, you will be considered harassing when someone is dying then you say: "May your family healthy"
or you say this to a person who is very ill and there is almost no chance of recovery.
Why are you considered harassing?
Because you give a prayer to someone who is almost impossible to have it.
We pray for good, pray for salvation for Prophet Isa al-Masih, or Rasulullah Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم because he was entitled to salvation.
Who gives salvation? Of course God is the Ruler of the universe.
Courtesy in Islamic Teachings :
The Prophet صلى الله عليه never boasted said: "No. You do not have to pray for me. Because I have guaranteed God to enter heaven ".
Never !!! The Prophet صلى الله عليه never said that. And never once the Prophet صلى الله عليه was arrogant, for the arrogant even though only the size of the particle would not enter Paradise.
Remember please, Iblis, a creature of God from the Jinn, was a pious one. He is cursed by Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى , the Lord of Hosts because of his pride !!!
